Panther explores the world

Panther lives in a nice little house in Huis ter Heide. Every day he goes to the playground to play. He likes to slide and he likes the swing. But sometimes he feels bored because he knows every last corner of the playground. Therefore, he decides to explore the world. He sneaks away from the playground, through a dense forest. The forest is green and there are many trees. Lots of different animals live in the forest. A fox crosses his path. A squirrel watches as he walks along, chittering nervously. "You don't have to be nervous, Squirrel, I won't eat you!" says Panther. "But I will!" growls the own from its hole. Then Panther arrives at a big river. Panther thinks: "This river looks interesting. I will follow it to see where it comes from." There are flowers that grow on the water: water lilies! And many animals live in the river: ducks, geese, fish, and even a turtle! Panther walks on, and on, and on. And he gets very tired. So when he comes to a park with a big tree with soft grass beneath it, he lays down to sleep. "Hey you, what are you doing here?" Panther wakes up as someone talks to him. That someone is a hippo! "I am Dorothy." says the hippo. "You are in the Karlsruhe castle gardens, and you can't just sleep on the grass!" "I'm not sleeping!" says Panther, "I'm exploring the world! Do you want to join me?" And off they go together. Together they continue to walk along the river. The landscape changes — they have arrived in the mountains. This is where the river comes from! There is a spring, where the water comes out of the rock, and then it bubbles though a meadow and down a waterfall into a pool. "This looks nice, I will take a bath!" says Panther. "Brrr! The water is much too cold!" says Dorothy. "Can't you see there is still snow on the mountain tops?" They continue to walk until they come to an area full of sand, like a huge playground. Palm trees grow here. And on the other side of the sand there is a lot of water. "This must be the sea." says Dorothy. "Africa is the other side of the sea, that's where I come from!". "I can't see anything on the other side." says Panther. "That's because the sea is so big." They hear a new voice. "I'm Adebar, the stork", Adebar introduces himself. "I can take you across the sea to Africa." "I'm not sleeping!" says Panther, "I'm exploring the world! Do you want to join me?" And off they go together. "I'm not sleeping!" says Panther, "I'm exploring the world! Do you want to join me?" And off they go together. "I'm not sleeping!" says Panther, "I'm exploring the world! Do you want to join me?" And off they go together.
